SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

SAFE Swim Foundation is excited to announce a collaboration with Every Child a Swimmer, which allows us to provide two scholarships per month to children whose families may not otherwise be able to afford the cost of tuition.

To be eligible for these scholarships, we require the following:

  1. Parents understand that the lesson plan under this program is 5 days per week for 3-5 weeks, depending on how quickly students pick up skills. Lessons will be taught at The School of Yaya’s Fishes in Lake City, Arkansas. Families MUST commit to this schedule at this location to be considered for a scholarship.
  2. The child who is registered for these lessons MUST have the ability to crawl and must be at a “learn to swim” level.
  3. Parents must be able to prove financial (with meal voucher or most recent tax return) need by meeting the current Income Eligibility Guidelines for Free & Reduced-price Meals as set by the Department of Health. Eligibility Guidelines are based on a 185% or less measurement on the US poverty scale. That scale can be found here: https://aspe.hhs.gov/sites/default/files/documents/1c92a9207f3ed5915ca020d58fe77696/detailed-guidelines-2023.pdf
  4. Applicants may not reapply for the same child within the same
    calendar year.

While filling out a scholarship application will not guarantee funding, the SAFE Swim Foundation will give every application full consideration. Upon receipt, some additional information may be required depending on the nature of the request.

From time-to-time, we will also announce scholarship drawings for specific groups of people, including but not limited to fostered and adopted children, children with special needs, and children of veterans. These scholarships are funded through generous local donors who want to support our mission.

Please follow our Facebook account or visit our website frequently for these announcements.

The SAFE Swim Foundation is dedicated to promoting drowning prevention and empowering children with the necessary skills to stay safe in and around water. Our acronym, SAFE, stands for Swim And Float in Emergencies. It reflects our commitment to equipping children with survival swim training.

Our Mission

At the SAFE Swim Foundation, we understand that water safety is a critical life skill, particularly for infants, toddlers, and children. We strive to make drowning prevention accessible to children from various backgrounds, including those with limited resources or facing physical or mental limitations. We believe that every child, regardless of their circumstances, should have access to drowning prevention resources.
